How ungodly soul ties form
Sexual union outside covenant (1 Corinthians 6:16), abusive or controlling relationships, trauma bonds, ungodly vows ("I will never love again", "I belong to you"), and manipulative spiritual authority.
Signs a soul tie is still active
You cannot stop thinking about someone years later. Their opinion still governs your decisions. You feel drained, watched, or pulled after contact. Dreams place you back with them repeatedly. New relationships carry the old atmosphere.
The steps to break it
1. Confess the union or agreement as sin where sin was involved — without shame spiralling.
2. Forgive the person completely and release them from your judgment.
3. Renounce every vow, word and covenant spoken between you.
4. Command the tie severed by the sword of the Spirit and the blood of Jesus.
5. Return what is not yours — gifts, objects and images tied to the relationship.
6. Ask God to return every fragment of your own soul and restore what was taken.
A prayer to break soul ties
"Father, in the name of Jesus I confess my relationship with [name] as it was — and I renounce every ungodly covenant, vow and word spoken between us. I forgive [name] and release them completely. By the blood of Jesus and the sword of the Spirit, I cut every ungodly soul tie between us. I command every spirit that travelled on that tie to leave me now. Father, return to me what belongs to me and take from me what belongs to them. Heal my soul and fill every emptied place with Your Spirit. Amen."
