Attracting the Fire of God

God requires that we burn before Him. You cannot stand in His presence without being on fire — the angels boast that they stand there. Mankind has been given an advantage: to create an atmosphere in the secret place where God dwells, so that He comes on the scene for us. Jacob wrestled. Abraham interceded. Elijah gave us the protocol.

Where to begin

You don't drift into fire. You step into it. Five moves, in order — then run the 7-step protocol below.

1.
Purge yourself first
2 Tim 2:21
Before you ask for fire, take inventory. Confess known sin, cut off one compromise this week, restore one broken relationship. 'If a man therefore purge himself… he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master's use.'
2.
Draw near — He will draw near
James 4:8
You make the first move. Pick one fixed time today (morning is best) and meet Him. Don't wait to feel spiritual. Show up. He responds to motion, not mood.
3.
Run the 7-step protocol once
1 Kings 18
Walk through Repentance → Priesthood → Consecration → Trench → Water → Cry → Fire below. Do not skip. The first full pass is your dedication.
4.
Bind yourself to the altar
Psalm 118:27
Set the cords (see Cords of the Altar below). Without systems, the flesh will negotiate you out of the altar by week two.
5.
Walk in obedience and wait for the avenging
2 Cor 10:6
'Having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.' Your job is to obey. God's job is to correct the dead situations — finances, family, health, calling — once your obedience is in place.

The 7-step protocol

Step 1 · 1 Kings 18:30-32

Repentance — Repairing the Broken Altar

Action: Elijah took 12 stones and rebuilt the ruined altar of the Lord.
Meaning: Reconnect to foundation and covenant. Before fire comes, the broken place must be restored.
Focus: Heart alignment. Turn from compromise and Baal. You cannot get fresh fire on a cracked altar.
Ask yourself: What altar in your life needs rebuilding — prayer, integrity, calling?

Step 2 · 1 Kings 18:33

Priesthood & Prayer — Arranging the Wood

Action: Elijah laid wood systematically on the stones.
Meaning: Establish consistent spiritual discipline. Wood is fuel for fire — no wood, no burn.
Focus: Daily prayer, the Word, obedience. Fixed times. Priesthood is not emotional — it is scheduled.

Step 3 · 1 Kings 18:33

Consecration — Cutting the Sacrifice

Action: Slaughtered the bull, cut it, laid the pieces on the wood.
Meaning: Total surrender. Death to self-will, self-glory, self-preservation.
Focus: Yield the body a living sacrifice (Rm 12:1). Fire does not fall on convenience — it falls on sacrifice.
Ask yourself: What is the bull God is asking you to lay down?

Step 4 · 1 Kings 18:32

Expansion & Separation — Digging the Trench

Action: Dug a deep trench around the altar — roughly 15L capacity.
Meaning: Two things at once: Capacity — dig out old dirt to hold new fire; God fills what you make room for. Separation — the trench is a boundary line between the holy altar and defiled Mount Carmel.
Focus: Hard spiritual labor. Break dry ground before breakthrough. Labor of discipline creates the container for blessing.

Step 5 · 1 Kings 18:34-35

Absolute Surrender — Pouring the Water

Action: 12 jars of water poured 3 times until wood, sacrifice, and trench were soaked.
Meaning: Death to carnal scheming. Water extinguishes human effort so God gets 100% of the glory.
Focus: In a 3-year drought, water was the most valuable resource. Give God the costly thing. The Word washes first (Eph 5:26), then the fire consumes.

Step 6 · 1 Kings 18:36-37

The Cry — Prayer of Faith

Action: Elijah prayed a short, specific, covenant-based prayer.
Meaning: 'Let it be known today that You are God.' Fire falls in response to aligned prayer, not performance.
Focus: Ask for God's glory, not your reputation.

Step 7 · 1 Kings 18:38, 41-45

The Fire + The Rain — Divine Consumption & Provision

Action: The fire of the Lord fell and consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the water, and the dust. Then the rain came.
Meaning: Fire first purifies, then rain releases abundance. Divine consumption precedes provision.
Focus: Do not chase the rain — host the fire. The rain follows what the fire has cleansed.

3 Keys to the Protocol

Order matters
You cannot skip to water without digging the trench. You cannot get fire without sacrifice.
God sends fire — man digs ditches
He brings the supernatural; you do the natural labor of preparation.
Saturation precedes consumption
Total soak means no human cleverness is left. That is when God moves.

Cords of the Altar — how to stay on fire

"Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar." Your body is the sacrifice (Rom 12:1). The cords are the systems you build so that on the days you don't feel like praying, the system drags you to the altar anyway. Feelings come and go — covenant does not.

The Alarm Cord
A fixed alarm for prayer — same time, every day. Non-negotiable. The alarm is the cord that drags the body to the altar when the soul refuses.
The Atmosphere Cord
Praise and worship playing on wake-up, in the car, in the kitchen. You are pre-tuning the air around you so the flesh has nowhere to land.
The Word Cord
A daily reading slot — even 1 chapter. Pair it with a meal you never skip (breakfast, lunch). Tie the spiritual habit to a physical one already on rails.
The Movement Cord
A fixed prayer walk or pacing prayer. The body in motion shakes off heaviness. Many breakthroughs come standing up, not sitting down.
The Accountability Cord
One person who knows your altar time and asks. Iron sharpens iron (Prov 27:17). Hidden devotion dies; witnessed devotion endures.
The Fast Cord
One scheduled fast per week (meal, day, or media). The fast is the cord that reminds the flesh who is master.

Stay on fire — and wait for the avenging

"When ye draw nigh to God, he will draw nigh to you" (Jas 4:8). You take the first step; He takes the second. And when your obedience is fulfilled, He avenges every disobedience — correcting dead situations in finances, family, body, and calling.

Feed it daily
Lev 6:13 — the fire on the altar shall never go out; the priest burns wood on it every morning. No fuel today = no flame tomorrow.
Guard the embers
One unforgiveness, one unconfessed compromise, one missed altar week will not extinguish you — but three will. Repent quickly and re-light.
Measure obedience, not feelings
Some days the fire roars; some days it glows. Both are fire. Show up regardless.
Expect the avenging
When your obedience is filled up, God moves on the dead situations. Do not pre-negotiate the timeline — keep burning.

Pray Elijah's Cry

The word-for-word prayer

LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

The Anointing That Breaks Every Yoke

These notes do not operate by formula — they operate by the same anointing Jesus carried when He set the captives free (Luke 4:18). Approach every session under covering, in covenant, and in faith.

When a minister sows into the well they drink from, a spiritual transaction takes place — they become a partaker of the anointing flowing through it (1 Corinthians 9:11, Philippians 4:17). Sowing is not payment; it is participation.
